It’s hard for me to believe, but I’m approaching my three month anniversary on the road. I thought this would be a good time to dig through my hard drive and pick my out my favorite shots so far.
If you’ve been following closely since the beginning (Hi, Mom!), these will all look pretty familiar. Hopefully, there’s something new here for most readers. It’s been an amazing three months — thank you all for following along.

Great images Wes, I’m especially jealous of your panning shots. I’ve yet to master (or come even close) with that skill yet.
What are you shooting with?

Yeah, panning shots are tough. I get lucky every now and then but most don’t work out. I’m shooting with a Canon XSi Rebel. I love the camera, but the kit lens seems a little soft. Some day I’ll hopefully be able to afford a full-frame body with a nice prime lens. Some day… ;)
I was going through and thinking #2 is going to be my favorite..then I got to #3 and it was my favorite…then #4 came up..
Love the pics and congrats on your three month milestone!!
Thanks, Aly!
they are all excellent shots.
I love the Buddha and roots pictures. How amazing – just thinking about how much time had to pass in order to get that. <3

I seriously can’t pick a favorite. Though those roots growing around that head is awe-inspiring. I’d love to be a fly by your side and see exactly how you took each shot. I’m about to search your site for info on your camera… Buying me a good one is seriously climbing higher on my to-buy list. Do you recommend a particular kind for a n00bie?
I’ve been a fan of Canons for 20 years or more, but I know Nikons are very good as well. I think the cheaper Rebels offer a lot of money for not too much money. If you don’t mind buying used gear, you can also get really good deals on the previous model as well…
I like the peace keepers rockin’ those pink cravats! Nice!
Gotta love the little kids steering on motorbikes. :)
Nice array of photos & congrats on your milestone! Happy Travels!

Thanks, Jeanie. 90 days goes *quickly*, I’m discovering :/
Lovely photos. Only 2 more months until I make it to SE Asia :) It’s great when I read your posts because it always makes me excited for my upcoming travels!

you’re going to have so much fun. I could easily spend a year or more in this part of the world….
Great shots wes, we so miss the sights and sounds of SE-Asia.
All the best to you!

Picture 1 with the sleeping cat, that’s really cute.

These photos make me miss Southeast Asia so much! It is such a photogenic region of the world and you’ve captured it beautifully! I think one of my favorites are the crabs in Chinatown. I also love the police shot! It made me smile :)

Thanks, Leah! The police were hilarious — looks like the Thai A-Team…
Great photos! Confirms my belief that I don’t have to carry a camera because I can go online and find photos taken by a better photographer than I am! Thanks! Will you be going to Halong Bay?

Thanks for the comment. I did go to Halong Bay, but my tour turned out to be a bit of a bummer. Shame, too, as the scenery is amazing…
here’s the tale: http://johnnyvagabond.com/destinations/hassles-ha-long-bay/
All your photos are amazing, each better than the previous, each so special. Really like your posts, very interesting insights into many world destinations. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Glad you like the site
I like the picture #2, it’s very common that people don’t wear helmet in China while riding a bike or motor bike, though it seems a bit dangerous, it’s a lovely photo, like me and my sweet daughter :)
Love it! I am a sucker for cats, just call me a cat lady! I will have section our website just of cat photos…just have to talk Adam into allowing it!
I read your last post about “the things you hate about tourists.” I have to admit, this photo collage is a perfect example of that- “Tourists running around snapping photos of completely normal daily occurences.” It kind of makes you like like an asshat. Maybe add it to your last post.
One of the dumbest comments I’ve ever had on my site:
“I read your last post about “the things you hate about tourists.” I have to admit, this photo collage is a perfect example of that- “Tourists running around snapping photos of completely normal daily occurences.” It kind of makes you like like an asshat. Maybe add it to your last post.”
EXACTLY what would you like me to photograph? Space Shuttle launches in Bangkok? Big explosions? NASCAR crashes? The whole point of what I’m trying to do is give people a feel of what it’s like to live in another land. Sometimes I’m successful, sometimes I’m not.
But, I seriously think your frothing at the mouth is threatening to ruin your Cheetos beard.
Asshat. More at: http://www.facebook.com/johnnyvagabond.rtw
