Travel Photos: Granada, Nicaragua

Granada is a classic, colonial Spanish town. It’s grittier and much poorer than either Antigua, Guatemala or San Cristobal de las Casa, Mexico, where I’ve spent a lot of time. It’s also more dangerous — wandering about the town at night alone is not exactly a good idea. But for texture and color, it’s a photographer’s dream.

Love the little girl in the white dress at the end in the giant doorway. So lovely :)

Thanks! She was a adorable. She saw me shooting so she would run out every few seconds and pose for a very brief time, then run away again. I probably shot 20 shots to get this one.

My favorite is the man with the black painted face, smoking a cig. I love that he is completely oblivious to the fact that you are photographing him and the color just ‘pops’.

That’s my favorite shot too. He was *intense* and the background shot of the woman looking at him really draws you too him. He’s got that thousand-yard stare, ya know? Loved it. And I feel very lucky to have grabbed it.

Fantastic architecture and great shots. It’s always tough to capture the feel of a building particularly like you have in the last two. It’s good to see you still going strong after a couple of years of me not dropping by.

It is an amazing town. I really like it! It was built in the original Spanish style.

Granada is one of my favorite cities that I visited. I think it’s so beautiful and very unique compared to all the other colonial cities I have ever visited. I’m saving again to do South America, but am debating if I should go through Central America again. I miss Nicaragua so damn much.

Those are some great pics, been to Spain but not Grenada, maybe next year. Was your first pic the local taxi?

Heh, pretty close. Horses and carts are still VERY popular and common here. Taxis tend to be tiny cars that are usually shared. $1 to just about anywhere in town but they’ll pick up and drop off 6 people on the way…

Hey man just catching up on your blog and enjoying it immensely. Have to say my favorite one on this page is the last one with the little girl dwarfed by that huge entry. Glad to see all is well and you’re keeping yourself safe.

Take care

Stunning photos. I particularly like the shot of Guadalupe Church. I jog bit every day. I’ve been living here for about 4 months now and I can definitely say the place is photogenic. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken the exact same shot of a church, door, person, or building simply because everything begs to be snapped! Even places I walk by every day and I have already photographed…lol. What camera do you use?
