Are We There Yet? Travel Photos from Past Adventures

December 27, 2009

Please cut me some slack on these images — these were all shot on film (remember that?) about 10 years ago. I’ve scanned them in and tried to clean up the scratches and thumbprints as best as I can… Click on the image for a full-size view.

Taj Mahal, Agra India -- 1999

I took several rolls of shots with my SLR, but my favorite shot turned out to be a last-minute, grainy black-and-white snap I took with a cheap point-and-shoot.

Gotta love the Taj, so many great angles to shoot.

No matter how much you try to force a good shot, sometimes the best ones are the most spontaneous.

Great photos!

I love the image of the Amsterdam Busker. It has such a beautiful painterly quality to it. Although the beauty seems in contrast to what you are describing as the audio portion.

Thanks, Leon! Perhaps I over-stated the sound — he was actually quite talented ;)

For me, the real beauty of the moment was the unexpected juxtaposition: a traditional Chinese musician was the *last* thing I expected to find in an Amsterdam underpass.

Nice photos. I miss film. Too easy to take a ton of photos with digital and not do anything with them.

Thanks, Bill! I admit I kinda miss it as well. But I do love being able to hold the trigger down and not worry about reloading or buying more film… One benefit of shooting film — I certainly found that I spent more time composing before I took a shot.
