Antigua is one of the most-popular destinations in Guatemala and it’s easy to see why. Nestled high in the mountains and surrounded by not one but three volcanoes, it’s a beautifully-preserved example of Spanish colonial charm.
Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it intends to stay that way, with development limited and modern trappings such as neon signs and billboards banned from the town center.

I adored Antigua. I stayed for two weeks. Some people say it is touristy, but I also felt it was still very authentic. If it takes tourism dollars to preserve a colonial town to such a level, I’m all for the touristy restaurants and bars and over-priced motels paying for it.
Wow, fantastic photography. You really know how to capture the people and places you visit in a seemingly intimate way. Well done!
