Monks line the streets of Luang Prabang every morning to receive alms. On a weekend, the process can take an hour or more, depending on the tourist turnout. Once they turn the corner to head back to the Wat, the younger ones break into a fast walk, eager to get home and inspect their take for the day.

Nice!
Do you have your camera gear list somewhere?

I don’t really have a photo gear list posted — I’m shooting a Canon Rebel XSi (entry-level model) with the 18-55 kit lens (not a sharp lens at all, alas) and a 75-300 zoom. I’ve got a cheap, lightweight tripod that I don’t use nearly enough, as well… I would give my left arm for a full-frame DSLR and a sharp lens, but it’s just not in my budget :/
Edit: I also have to include Lightroom in that list. It’s a critical piece of gear for me…
Gorgeous photo!!!!

Another Yackedy Sax clip ?
Wes, are you going to tell us where you are going next/when? Has your overall itinerary changed much from your original plans and how is your budget holding up – I am sure I speak for many followers when I say I really enjoy reading about your exploits, it a ‘real time’ travel docu/drama/comedy with more than a touch of National Geographic. You are a gifted writer and photographer, so I say, stay on the road and keep it going!!
Wow, thanks so much, Lily! You really made my day. I’m coming up on my 6 month anniversary on the road, so I’ll be doing another “State of the Trip” post soon. The budget is always a worry, but otherwise things seem to be on track. :)
I’m seriously getting photo jealousy here, they’ve been great lately.

Thanks, Ayngelina! I’ve been putting more effort into my photography lately — felt like I was neglecting it a bit before. Glad to hear you like it.
Great shot Johnny, I love the little boy smiling as he looks back. You captured such a special moment.
Great stuff Johnny!
Ever think of doing a piece on the Middle East?
