The Bodhnath Stupa is a must-see for anyone visiting Kathmandu. Believed to have been built in the 14th century, it is a major pilgrimage site and you’ll find the devout praying at shrines, spinning prayer wheels or performing prostrations. A stairway on the north side allows you to access the upper level and the inner stupa. Bring sunglasses, as the light can be blinding on a sunny day.

Sorry but those eyes freak me out!! Reminds me of big brother!
I’m right there with ya on that one…
Another great shot Wes! Keep em coming, I’ll keep coming back.
Fantastic colors!!!
Love the shape and the color of this shot. You always had some interesting photo form your trip!
Looks massive! Ans so vivid against that blue sky, great pic!
For some reason when I see this picture the 1s thing that comes to mind is LEGOS. You know the type you used to play with as a kid and build houses with. Look at the top of the picture quickly where the eyes are and tell me if you see LEGOS making the top.
Hahaha! I hadn’t noticed that, but you’re exactly right :)
I agree with Jaime. When i see the picture Legos comes in my mind :)
Great picture !
And i didnt saw it at first but after reading the comments…
I kinda agree about the logo eyes :o
Great picture: must be an amazing site to see in person. Looks like it has many steps to climb, curious how tall the overall structure is, looks massive.
It is huge. Probably 50 feet high or more.
Lovely shot! But those eyeballs remind me the wicked witch from Snow White :)
Great photo – and it’s a definite Kathmandu must-see. The monkeys on the way up are a bit intimidating, though.
sophie, you’ve mistaken this photograph for that of Swoyambhunath, that’s on top of a hill . . The architecture here is a lot bigger than Swoyambhunath stupa . .
